The end of 2022

So it’s that time of year where we all look back on the events of the year both personally and for society as a whole. For most it’s been pretty turbulent and 2023 looks to be similar so I thank my lucky stars I have my photography to escape with and within. I have continued to visit areas of the UK plus France this year and have a few great trips planned for 23 including another trip to Iceland , Ireland and later in the year Lanzarote which will be a very different landscape to shoot.

The highlights of my year have again been in Scotland with some stunning conditions to be found in Sutherland in late March and in October in Perthshire. France provided a real treat in terms of warmth and beautiful simple landscapes to enjoy in Correze. My kit remains much the same bar the fuji xt3 being traded in for the fuji H2 which I am really enjoying. The Nikon 850 and lenses remain in my Mindshift bag …why ? well becuse they consistently deliver in tough weather conditions and are real work horses. Sunwayfoto have asked me to review some of their tripods and I can honestly say they are great bits of kit and very good value for money Maybe the dslr will make a come back in 2023 or 24 who knows ? It was good to receive a number of awards in International photography competitions and in SNPA. I will continue to enter some competitions which I feel make me think that bit harder and have a multidimensional approach towards landscape work.

I have delivered many many photo presentations on zoom and a couple in person which were local. I think this has to be the way forward as many more clubs can be reached and fees can be kept quite low . My new presentaton Scotland looking beyond and within has received good feedback and I look forward to presenting an abridged version of it to the RPS conference in Harrogate in March. Details can be found on their site.

My new apple mac studio has speeded up things no end so lets hope it continues that way. A range of prints have been sold and I will be hoping to sell more in 2023 ranging now from a4 to a1 and framed if people require. So please do contact by email - you may be looking for something not on my site so pleaase enquire - I always get back

I am pleased to announce an exhibition in Norwich cathedral crypt will be held in June 23 with the abstract painter Caroline Evans. More details to follow

So what am I going to do differently in 23 in terms of photography ?

1 Write a blog for this site at least once a month

2 Print more pictures- it really does improve your work

3 Work with individuals as they require on 1 to 1 or in small groups

4 Hold a few more photography days locally

Lets see if the above all transpires!

Below are a few of my favourite photos taken this year and they are not necessarily the ones that get load of likes on social media but they are my favourites! Wishing you all a healthy and happy 23 and lets hope things do get better for all
